In Practice
Implementing Living Ripples is led by the school.
Living Ripples is a stepped and logical process. Aware that schools have a wide range of different experiences, expertise and capabilities, the Living Ripples team has prepared resources to walk alongside schools in their delivery of the process at all stages should it be helpful.
Choosing Living Ripples.
When a school commits to Living Ripples, often the first stage is to engage all families, students, and the broader school community. Engaging the wider school community at the earliest opportunity builds understanding and commitment. How well a school engages with the community and informs teachers, students and families about why the school is implementing Living Ripples often directly impacts the total number and quality of surveys completed. Gathering as much data as possible is fundamental to the overall success of the process.
Launching Living Ripples.
The Living Ripples process works best when all in the school community are prepared and informed. For all the students and their families this is often done through a launch event. Sharing the reasons why the school has decided to participate or is already participating in Living Ripples provides the foundation for all within the school community to get involved. A launch event in your school will build understanding and support and is especially important as each year, new students, families and staff will be involved.
Community connections.
For every individual school, the Living Ripples process offers an opportunity to engage, renew and establish community connections and partnerships to support the school’s initiatives. The Living Ripples Process fosters a locally led response built on real-time data and evidence. This means that local organisations, associations, community groups, councils and youth groups, business industry, charities and social enterprises are interested and often, are keen to contribute. They see that the school is helping the young people of the community become active and engaged citizens, future employees, entrepreneurs, leaders, volunteers and change makers.
