Professional counsellors take calls any time, for any reason. It is especially important in regional and remote communities where support from face-to-face professionals can be limited.
Why
Helpline is the national safety-net for children and young people. It supports other service providers. For some young people, Kids Helpline has saved lives, for others it offers practical help and emotional support at the moment they need someone to listen.
How
The two main values of Kids Helpline practice are counselling by supporting and working with young people to develop options for change and listening to and respecting what the young person has to say. The website has age-appropriate sections for help and translations into several languages. Safety, care, kindness, love and respect are universal human rights. They belong to everyone.
